Maral Taşkırıcı : Tender Loving Care

13.02 – 08.03.2025

Entitled “Tender Loving Care”, the exhibition delves into the boundaries of affection, care, and attachment, examining the fine line between nurturing and suffocating, between devotion and overindulgence. This exhibition explores the complexities of love and care that go beyond what is healthy, pushing the concept of tenderness to its extremes.

In a world that often feels hurried, detached, and fractured, “Tender Loving Care” invites you to slow down, to engage, and to witness the profound beauty of human connection. The works in this exhibition tap into the bittersweetness of nostalgia—those memories of being cared for that both soothe and unsettle. “Tender Loving Care” is an exploration of emotional labor that constitute care in its many forms. These pieces provoke contemplation on the dark side of emotional dependence and the haunting effects of love that does not leave space for independence.Through surreal imagery, distorted proportions, and symbolic representations of entanglement, the artist draws attention to the psychological traps we sometimes create when we seek too much or give too freely. The exhibition captures the elusive nature of love and care—those soft, fleeting exchanges that remain etched in memory, even when time and distance separate us from them. From the scent of a childhood home to the sound of a loved one’s voice, these works invoke a longing for the intimacy that has been lost or transformed over time.

In this exhibition, nostalgia becomes a mirror, reflecting both the beauty and the cost of love. It asks viewers to consider how deeply our early experiences of care shape our emotional landscapes, for better or worse, and how the longing for a simpler time can often be clouded by the shadows of what we lost or what we never fully understood. Through her work, the artist invites you to revisit memories of care and connection, evoking a sense of longing for the intimate gestures and quiet comforts that once brought us a deep sense of belonging.

Maral, born in 1996 in Istanbul, Turkey, is an interdisciplinary artist with a primary focus on ceramics. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Product Design from Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti. Her work delves into emotional and social themes, particularly exploring the experiences of female figures constrained by societal roles, often in surreal and symbolic landscapes intertwined with nature. Maral’s use of hand-shaped forms highlights her deep connection with the material and the creative process, showcasing her interest in design. She reimagines everyday objects—such as vases, plates, and ashtrays—by incorporating them into her installations, transforming them into art. This transformation invites viewers to reconsider the ordinary, challenging the aesthetics of daily life and reinforcing her focus on reinterpreting familiar objects through an artistic lens.
