Özge Çokgezen : Synthetic Identity
The frst solo show by Özge Çokgezen presents a selection of the artist’s oeuvre between 2019-2023. With this exhibition, the artist refects on their experiences in different corners of the world in the last three years. Çokgezen began their artistic education with the study of fne arts in high school. They continued with design and then arts management at university.
In this exhibition, the artist, who is able to address as complex notions as possible with simple shapes, molds, and interventions, presents us with the spectacle of a practical yet intricate world. The fact that we see monochrome neon green as a single color in the exhibition where we see different techniques together can be understood as a refection of this practicality of the artist.
In the exhibition, we see the artist refect on their own artistic identity with both painting and sculpture works in a competent style. The exhibition consists of eleven acrylic paintings, twelve embossed works on paper, two pieces of chrome-plated metal sculpture on iron, two pieces of wall sculpture polyester and fber, two pieces of metal sculpture on iron base, and nine pieces of shaped iron sculpture installation. It is open to visitors between September 14 through October 22, 2023.
