Oğulcan Sürmeli : P.O.V.

Oğulcan Sürmeli’s first comprehensive solo gallery exhibition opens at Ambidexter on May 20, 2023. Born in Istanbul in 1995, the artist graduated from F.M.V., Faculty of Fine Art, in 2018. He worked in the workshops of Halil Akdeniz and Meriç Hızal. He also took part in domestic and international fairs and exhibitions.

“P.O.V.:” can be seen as the artist’s adventure in incorporating the meanings and meaning discharges that he visually subjects. The plastic language that is strong, comfortable, and sometimes provocative and disturbing in both the second and third dimensions constitutes Oğulcan Sürmeli’s art practice. In his own words, the artist describes the expression of the ever-changing contexts over time and the perceptual complexities in the cultural landscape around him with the following words: ‘This adaptation is also the rule of my painting materials’.
